Some Of The Greatest News I’ve Heard In Years…
By Tuck • Oct 13th, 2008 • Category: Geek Commentary (New Whenever!)True Believers -
Something happened today that’s blown my mind. I am so shocked, and so stunned by the amazing news that I’ve just learned about, that I’m struck by a burst of barely controlled emotion.
Because at long last, a rant that has sung out from my lips is coming true. Old friends, whose story I’ve not revisited in far to long, are coming back to the gaming world. I was reviewing a list of the 20 Best Games discussed at the Tokyo Games Show according to Edge Online, and there were some amazing ones…until I came across Number 16. I stopped in my tracks. Though the news that this one has been in the wild since the beginning of the month, today was the first time I saw it. I couldn’t move, except to shout in triumph. Tears came to my eyes, and my faith in all things geek swelled in my chest. My wife thought that I’d hurt myself, and was annoyed to see that I’d only lost my mind.
I’ve talked about this gaming moment before…for years I’ve been singing this song. This is a game that needs to remade in a new form. This is something that needs to be re-imagined, like Final Fantasy 4 was re-imagined…unchanged, yet changed forever. Because this is a game that deserves it…because it’s one of the greatest games of all time.
This is a game that change my life forever, people. And there are very few games that I can say do that.
At long last…
If I were standing next to you, I’d choke up. I can barely keep from getting the tears of joy on my keyboard.
You need to see this for yourself.
At long last…they’re coming home…
