GwI – Coming to a ComicCon Near You

Return To The Javitts Center!

The geeks are packing up their autograph books and their favorite T-Shirts and will soon be on their way to the New York Comic Convention in Manhattan.  The con is this weekend, and we’re planning some new ways to bring the action from the Con to you.

Of course, we will have two full episodes dedicated to comic con, with plenty of interviews, panels, sights and sounds.  We’ll have lots of photos to share, including plenty of cos-play.

We’re also working on a few new ideas.  The first of these is web-only content.  If our two convention visits in 2008 taught us anything, it’s that we’ll end up shooting way more video than we can cram into two one-hour episodes of GwI.  To rectify that problem, and to give you something to watch while we process and edit all that footage, we’re planning to release several short videos with some of the cool content that won’t fit into our episodes.  I’ll even throw in a couple of sneak previews from the episodes, if I can put them up without Tuck finding out.

We’re going to make use of our Mogulus live feed, which served us very well during the Battle Against Dysentery in December.  Check back on Friday, and we’ll announce what times you can tune into the feed to check out live coverage of the convention.

Finally, we’re going to create a few Photosynths from the convention. Photosynth is a nifty app created by the fine folks at the Evil Empire that places 2-D photos into 3-D space.  If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out this test-run* that I created from my apartment wall.

In the meantime, if there is anything you want us to cover, or anyone you want us to interview, please let us know.  And if you’re attending the Con, let us know that too, we’d love to say hi.

*You’ll need to view it on IE7 or Fire Fox v3 and install the Photosynth plugin to view it.
