Trevor gives us his opinions on the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

On September 16, LucasArts will release Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the latest addition to George Lucas’ science fiction universe. Set between the events of Episodes III and IV, the video game promises to fill the gaps between the two film trilogies, a time period that saw the Empire cement its hold over the galaxy. In The Force Unleashed, players take on the role of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, Starkiller. Found as a child by Vader on the Wookiee home world Kashyyyk, Starkiller is trained to aid Vader and Emperor Palpatine in his quest to destroy the Jedi Order.

The game is set in the nether region between the trilogies and features many entirely new characters, so the game designers had some freedom to establish new events in the Star Wars timeline. But the major events had to be cleared with Star Wars creator George Lucas, and every detail had to be vetted by the licensing department of Lucasfilm to ensure continuity.

Geeks, after looking at all the screen shots, and watching the producer walkthrough videos (available at www.starwars.com) I’ve learned a bit more about this game.

It’s apparent you are abusively powerful right off the bat, able to use a great amount of force push, force lightning, and saber skills. I was glad to see the makers of this game stick with the idea of learning and increasing new abilities after gaining game experience, this always makes for fun. I am especially excited about the Nintendo Wii version of this game due to the fact that I’ve been waiting to have full control over the lightsaber for my entire life! The Wii version lets you control your saber with the Wiimote by swinging it left, right, up, down, or pushing forward. The Nunchuck accessory controls the force in a similar way. The Wii version of this game also features an exclusive duel mode that allows you and a friend to control characters from the force unleashed, the star wars movies, and the expanded universe in an all out, crazy, over the top, force-fueled duel.

So, after my long winded informational speech all I have to say is that this game looks great for all systems, but if you want real fun, try the Wii version.

Of course, the discussion isn’t over people, leave me questions or comments below, or pop over to gwiunited.ning.com, join our community, and ramble about this game or anything else you want!

Hey there geek nation,

I was sitting here trying to come up with something to write for the new Geeks with Issues website and wasn’t coming up with anything great until the Apple gods blessed my iTunes by playing the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers theme song! I’ve decided to write a bit about my memories of television growing up as a kid, i hope you enjoy it.

The first show i remember being obsessed with was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the story of four turtles spilled down a sewer and contaminated with “ooze”, a chemical that transformed them to a semi-human state, at which point they were trained in the ninja ways by a rat named Splinter. Not only was the show great, but it spawned three great movies, and an appeal that has lasted until now!

After my Ninja Turtles phase, I became obsessed with The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, a show about 5 (eventually 6) teenagers recruited by an inter-dimensional being and his robot assistant to fight the evil Rita Repulsa and her evil monsters. The Power Rangers lasted three seasons and has had many subsequent re-inventions, such as Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, all the way up until now with the latest Power Rangers Jungle Fury.

After the success of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Fox created Big Bad Beetleborgs - many considered it to be a Power Rangers rip-off - I have nothing great information-wise about this show, I just remember it being pretty funny.

There are many shows i remember being really good that I have no real obsessions over but I thought you all might like to see them. These shows were really fun to watch. Shows on Nick like All That, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and Salute Your Shorts. I also enjoyed Captain Planet and the Planeteers!
